Share FacebookTwitterPinterestLinkedinWhatsappTelegramEmail 294 The war between Beth Model Management and Isis Model Management continues. Our first article regarding this issue sprung up when we wrote about Isis Model Management’s slogan “Because It Is Foreign Doesn’t Make It Better”. This was in reference to a shot fired by Isis Models holding its own brand Nigeria’s Next Super Model (A Nigerian Owned Brand) in competition with Beth Model’s Elite Model Search Nigeria (the foreign brand). However, the rivalry between the two agencies dates as far back 2010 where a vicious and malicious heated argument exploded on facebook between Elohor (owner of Beth Models), Joan Okorodudu (owner of Isis) and a few other models from South Africa and Nigeria. The complex of this dispute is beyond explainable for one article. And the situation which came close to physical violence, found it’s way into the courts, all back when I wasn’t a fashion journalist. The end result of the claims and the back and forth almost left Joan’s image fully tarnished. Nevertheless, the issue was publicly buried and the two remained simply competitors with minor bickering and competition back and forth. The two agencies are currently Nigeria’s most popular and hired agencies. So now you have the back story, here is the update. There has been an influx of models signing up to Isis Model’s based upon the current success of Nigeria’s Next Super Model and other international activities the agency has participated in. Isis/Joan, who was recently in Ghana casting for Ecowas Fashion Week, recently publicized that a model by the name of Moyin, had recently signed onto the agency. By public acknowledgement this was a big blow to Beth Models as Moyin was the 2012 winner of Elite Model Search Nigeria. For Moyin to move agencies would have indicated a lack of management on behalf of Beth Models. However, Beth has come back swinging with a video by Moyin denying any claims that she has moved agencies. In any circumstance where a non celebrity model moves agents, it is usually minor news and fairly unimportant. However, why this story has hit blogs across Nigeria is the tension that still remains between the two agencies. Watch Moyin’s video below. Post by BETH Model Management Africa. So could this be a situation of back and forth discussions and most models do anyways, could it be a misunderstanding or miscommunication between Isis Model’s and Moyin, or could this simply be an attempt to create controversy by Isis Models. Who knows what will unfold in the near future between the two.
