Share FacebookTwitterPinterestLinkedinWhatsappTelegramEmail 767 Despite the limited stage decoration and the very loud high pitched female co-host, the event seemed to have been a successful night for the organizers. Neither did it start nor finish too late. In the past years we have jotted down many articles that reflect on the ups and downs of model life and the intriguing model behavior. Based on this it remains questionable how to really award an agency. Most agencies claim success based on models that are really not tied to them, exclusive nor make deals via them. The purpose of Afroma Awards is definitely a genuine one which aims to ensure models are subjects of agencies and not freelance which is great and heading towards the direction Ghana’s modeling industry needs to be in, but then the follow up question comes. What criteria are we ensuring the agents are in prior before rejecting models who refuse to be with agents for any activities? What are we doing to end agents urging models to sleep with them? Do we ensure the agents have exclusive contracts? Do we enforce the agents to be transparent with the backdoor deals that most models complain about? In hindsight, these are very important issues and part of the reasons why there is a lot of freelance going on in Ghana. It would simply be helpful to consider this so freelance models are not left out in this progress nor forced to be a part of something that needs ironing. Outside of this, there was definitely a great atmosphere in the room and a good turn out and a congrats to the organizers as this was the first of it’s kind with no disgruntled attendees or outcry of fake awards as it was with previous fashion award events.
