Many businesses, big and small, some just like FashionGHANA.com happen to be at the DHL delivery services each and every week. In our case, almost twice a week based on the various delivery options provided on our online boutique. Only for the company to take it upon themselves to insult Ghana during it’s independence day. DHL Express, which is a division of the German logistics company Deutsche Post, took to twitter to write the following…. “Today, #Ghana Celebrated its independence. Here is a photo of the beautiful streets of Ghana! #AfricaAsOne”. Unfortunately using a picture of the slums as seen here. Featuring Wizkid’s Girlfriend Tania Omotayo And Banke Su Over the past years, there has been a surge of pictures that we are all familiar with, the ‘When I say Africa people think I mean this, but this is what I mean’, or the ‘Africa You Don’t See On TV’ images. The only reason why such pictures flood the internet is because of the constant negative imagery companies such as DHL depict. If this is how DHL feels about Ghana, why don’t they take an overhead sky high view picture of where their office are based! In fact, such a post simply indicates the German company most likely has not concern about the countries in Africa except its ability to make profit and put other delivery services out of business. There really isn’t much else to say other than we encourage companies and small businesses to avoid using DHL services and hope the Ministry of Trade or Tourism deals with the company appropriately, because the half hearted apology is not accepted. An insult to a whole nation and the clients the company profits from on their day of Independence from colonial struggle is definitely a hit below the belt, especially from a company based in a country that participated in colonialism. We have removed all DHL options on our site and now only using GhanaPost and EMS, please, if you do acknowledge the words DHL on any part of our website, do send us a message. For other who use DHL, EMS services can be found at all GhanaPost offices, or one can look into FedEx.
