VIDEO: Award Winning Designer Abigail Boison Of Style By Magbrien To Represent Ghana In Ethiopia’s TechStitched Programme

Thanks to the support of the British Council Ethiopia, the Hub of Addis Ababa Fashion Week is teaming up with Accra Fashion Week and FashionGHANA.com for an exciting collaboration. From March 17th to 28th, 2024, fast-rising Ghanaian designer Abigail Boison, CEO of Style By Magbrien, will be participating in the TechStitched fashion residency program in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. This program aims to foster collaboration, learning, development, and cultural exchange among designers and fashion week organizers from across Africa.

Abigail Boison, who was honored as the Red Carpet Designer of the Year at the 2022 FashionGHANA Honors & Awards, recently showcased her stunning collection at Accra Fashion Week 2023. Now, she and other selected designers will have the opportunity to delve into the craftsmanship of traditional hand-woven materials in Ethiopia. They will explore techniques such as natural dyeing and block printing to create approximately three new outfits to complement their existing collections.

In addition to the hands-on creative process, a curated workshop will focus on digital technology in the fashion industry. Fashion week representatives will come together to explore how digital showcasing can enhance collaboration between platforms. The residency will culminate in a captivating fashion show featuring designs from the participating designers, showcasing the rich diversity and talent of African fashion on a global stage.
