BLOG STYLE: plastic bag with Skittles glued onto it to a major ceremony. Okay, so now I have your attention let’s put the joke aside, and analyse what is going on.
As I am scheduling my timetable for tomorrow, I start to see a couple images of Kim Kardashian with Kanye west in this see-through dress style thingy the urban female celebrities of today keep repeating.
Later, Beyonce’s images emerged and I got the same feeling I got when I saw Kim’s. I actually felt sad for them. Not in a pity charitable way, but in thought of what they have to do to remain in the spotlight to grab attention.
Red carpets images stun because we look to see the next loveliest dress and who outdoes the next person, or the top 10. What we are seeing now is the next loveliest undressed simply to dominate the media. And it gets more and more revealing not because of anything unique or beautifully amazing, but simply to battle for media attention.
We are talking two mature women with a spouse…RIGHT NEXT TO THEM! Obviously they have passed this stage, and judging by what the world puts them through as celebrities it’s obvious they are more mature than this. This is the action of a lady seeking a spouse, no? Upon what purpose will you dress as such amongst many in suits and gowns?
The truth is being a celebrity is not easy, despite paying for pr, assistants to manage your social media presence, stylists and more, you can easily fall out of the limelight with the numerous stories going on in the world, and upcoming talents that could easily replace you everywhere you turn. I mean whats the point showing up to the Met Gala looking classy and sophisticated if the next half dressed celeb is going to get more press attention than you?
So in a world like this what is guaranteed to always capture attention, NUDITY! Something that reaches the top in all online searches. Not only do you get to be in the online scope of the such search words, but you stir up controversy, people talk, share and discuss your name (and we are guilty of it by this article). Even those who don’t like it will share it. And by dawn, your name is in the press again, branded in people’s heads.
Because another Ray J sex tape won’t make the cut, or is it your hits are good but not good enough to top your historical record. So you last resort is to await that big event so you can have been talking about what you showed or didn’t show. Kim’s dress wasn’t too bad, but did Beyonce need to push the envelop.
As of yet I have only seen Beyonce and Kim, but if that’s what they are wearing I am definitely not looking forward to seeing what Rihanna would wear. I won’t be surprised if she comes out with only a leaf covering her toosh. Don’t get me wrong, I am still a fan of Beyonce, both her music and character, but I will call it when I see it.

I totally agree. What are these celebrities teaching are kids? Not to get an education and make the world better. But that it is OK to be attention junkies. Not to be the best they can be. What is society telling the youth. We need to get it together.
