Threads by Dreads designer and founder Christiana Afotey has set up the scholarship prize in honour of her late mother. Ten qualified student candidates across respective high schools in Ghana will be awarded with the Mrs Fedelia Adokailey Mensah Scholarship award. Each winner will be awarded $250 (£190) in March 2017 during which they will be notified by a surprise visit to their classrooms. In order for candidates to qualify for the Mrs Fedelia Adokailey Mensah Scholarship Award they must be actively enrolled in a Ghanaian high school and must have no more than five occurrences of lateness or un-excused absences. Besides having an impressive attendance record, candidates must maintain credit grades A and B throughout the calendar school year with a GPA of 3.0 or above.
