Ghanaian Fashion Brand Pistis Causes A Stir Online For Charging A $100 For Their Nose Masks

Designer Elikem Kumordzie the tailor received extreme backlash for allegedly charging 85ghs ($15) for his nose masks. When in reality this romour was spread by blogs that were in opposition to the designer. The real price was 25ghs ($4) and even still, most Ghanaians found it to be too high prices compared to the street African print nose masks for 5ghs ($1).

Well, after a major media storm was ignited over Elikem when some believed it was $15, one can only imagine how Ghanaians reacted to this leaked conversation below with Ghanaian fashion brand Pistis after finding out their nose masks costs 600ghs, roughly $100.

For those that don’t know, Pistis is a Ghanaian based fashion house primarily recognized for dressing the first and second lady of the nation as well as other female heads of state.

They made a name for themselves specifically within the field of creating unique hand-beaded bridal gowns using authentic African fabrics such as kente.

So it is no surprise they took the couture route when it came to creating their nose masks. The Pistis nose is embellished with crystals fringed over African print fabrics.

A lesser decorated piece was seen worn by Ghanaian actress and a media personality. She’s known for starring in “The Perfect Picture”, Naa Ashokor for the 3 music Awards 2020 (virtual) edition.

Rest assured, the $100 nose mask is not for everyone, and definitely not for those outcrying. Let’s be honest, it was the outrageous attacks on Elikem, accusing him of charging a price he didn’t charge for his nose mask that gave him 1, the promotion behind it, and 2 the branding that those who wear it are not wearing just any mask.

And that branding is what drove clients towards it. There is no doubt the fewer people that can afford the Pistis nose mask the more those that will be attracted to it.
