Jamie Foxx’s recovery from a medical emergency he experienced in April seems to be progressing well, according to recent reports.

The 55-year-old actor made his first public appearance since his hospitalization, spotted on a boat cruising along the Chicago River on Sunday. A source close to Foxx and his team has shared with PEOPLE that he is “doing great” almost two months after his daughter, Corrinne, announced his departure from the hospital.

“He is taking it easy at the moment. He hasn’t started receiving visitors yet, but he is in really good shape,” the source stated, referring to Foxx’s leisurely approach to his recovery, following his outing on the water.

Sunday also marked Foxx’s return to Twitter, where he posted for the first time in months. In the tweet, he mentioned his enjoyment of “Boat life” and expressed gratitude, mentioning the whiskey brand Brown Sugar Bourbon and celebrating summer alongside them.
