TikTok King Detained and Deported After Visa Blunder

TikTok megastar Khaby Lame has been given the boot from the United States after being detained by ICE officers for overstaying his visa — just weeks after strutting the red carpet at the star-studded Met Gala in New York.

The 25-year-old social media sensation, who boasts a jaw-dropping 162.2 million followers on TikTok, was picked up at Harry Reid International Airport in Las Vegas last week by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and swiftly escorted out of the country.

According to ICE officials, Lame — real name Seringe Khabane Lame — legally entered the U.S. on April 30, but failed to pack his bags before his visa expired. That made his swanky Met Gala appearance — alongside Hollywood royalty — his last hurrah before being shown the door.

A spokesperson for ICE confirmed:

“Seringe Khabane Lame, 25, a citizen of Italy, was detained June 6 in Las Vegas for immigration violations. He was granted voluntary departure and has since left the U.S.”

Lame, originally born in Senegal but raised in Italy since the age of one, was granted Italian citizenship in 2022 after skyrocketing to fame during the COVID lockdowns. His signature silent skits mocking ridiculous “life hacks” earned him comparisons to Mr. Bean, and even saw him land partnerships with major global brands and celebrities.

Yet despite his digital dominance, not even the King of TikTok is above immigration law.

No comment has been issued by Khaby or his management team regarding the incident, and neither his TikTok nor Instagram accounts have made any mention of the embarrassing immigration hiccup. Fans are still waiting to hear what went wrong — and when, or if, their favourite online star will return to American soil.

Digital culture expert Payal Arora previously described Lame’s appeal to NPR, saying his content “puts influencers in their place” and assures fans: “They’re the idiots — not you.”

But this time, critics say, Lame might’ve been the one not paying attention.

One fan on Twitter quipped, “Guess Khaby finally found a life hack he couldn’t simplify.”

With his millions of fans now watching from afar, Khaby Lame will have to keep it real from Europe — at least for now.
