KUMASI, GHANA — It was glitz, glam, and Ghanaian greatness as Fashion Night stole the spotlight at the Ashanti Festival 2025 — and boy, did it deliver!

Held at the buzzing Rattray Park, the fashion-forward fiesta saw a dazzling collision of heritage and haute couture, as local designers, artisans, and creatives transformed Kumasi into the style capital of the country for one unforgettable night.

And just when you thought it couldn’t get any hotter — boom! — comedic superstar Funny Face and actor Kwaku Manu dropped jaws as they strutted down the runway, dripping in bold African prints and homegrown flair. Yes, you read that right. Ghana’s favorite funny man turned fashion icon for the night, serving sass and style in equal measure alongside the ever-suave Kwaku.

Organised under the leadership of Ashanti Regional Minister Dr. Frank Amoakohene, Fashion Night aimed to shine a long-overdue light on Ghana’s unsung fashion heroes — the kente weavers, shoemakers, bead designers, and tailors who form the heartbeat of local style. And judging by the thunderous cheers, mission accomplished.

One brand that stole the show was Baffoe Polo, founded in 2020 and already making serious waves. Specializing in African prints, their mission to retell the African story through fashion found new fans on the night.
“We’ve made a few sales and educated people about our brand. It’s been a total success,” said Nana Kojo Bobie Ansah, Head of Sales at Baffoe Polo. “Let’s do this every six months!”

The fashion runway didn’t stop at fresh designs — it walked us right into raw stories. Afia Nyame of Kente Vogue moved hearts as she traced her passion back to her mother, who once hawked kente on the streets to raise her children. Now, Afia is selling out online and in-store — no head-carrying necessary.

“My brand has grown, and people now know me. I don’t need to hawk anymore,” she said with pride.

Guests like Yaa Yeboah Kamah were quick to praise the quality and affordability of the night’s fashion finds.
“You won’t see these kinds of kente anywhere else. I had to buy some!” she exclaimed, adding her voice to the growing chorus calling for Fashion Night to become an annual calendar staple.

With the park buzzing, vendors smiling, and buyers flaunting their new looks, Fashion Night at the Ashanti Festival didn’t just celebrate fashion — it celebrated resilience, creativity, and cultural pride.
