Africans Mourn Michael K Williams From His Participation In This Ghanaian (Black Panther) Designer’s Fashion Show

It would be a lie to state that Michael K Williams was very popular within the African community, let alone very popular. But for those that loved and followed shows like the Wire where he played Omar Little and Albert “Chalky” White on the HBO series Boardwalk Empire, then he is definitely a figmentation in your celebrity world.

Yesterday, Michael Williams was found dead in his New York City apartment Monday afternoon, law enforcement official told CNN. Investigators found drug paraphernalia near his body, the official said.

Michael K Williams Is Gone But Not Forgotten…In Style

As usual many are doubting the scenario. Never the less the most essential part is he is gone and images of the actor are going viral. However, there are a set of images that Africans are particularly sharing to mourn the passing away of Michael K Williams, and that was in participation in an African fashion show.

The fashion show was one by renowned London Based Ghanaian luxury suit designer, Ozwald Boateng who has had a consistent fascination for celebrities participating in his fashion show. In 2019 he organized a spectacular show at the Apollo Theatre on May 05 in New York City.

Black Panther Era

The show was a bit more culturally African-centered compared to the typical expectation of Ozwald Boateng, and it’s not hard to explain why. This was shortly after the impact of the Black Panther movie and its release.

As a matter of fact, Ozwald Boateng was amongst the renowned designers featured in the Black Panther movie. Most of us recall the well-suited gentleman from Ethiopia’s Mursi tribe with his lip-stretching accessory from below.

It was that same exact suit Michael was spotted walking down the runway with. But this participation on the runway for Ozwald Boateng was not the only connection Michael K Williams had with Africa. In late 2019 he took a DNA test and discovered his origins that he is from the Mande Tribe of Sierra Leone.
