Actress and DJ Pearl Thusi has leaped to the defence of Miss South Africa contestant Chidimma Vanessa Onwe Adetshina, who’s been caught in a storm over her eligibility to represent the nation.

Since making it to the Top 30, Chidimma has faced a barrage of criticism from a mob of afrophobes on social media, with naysayers questioning her South African identity. Though born in South Africa, her father is Nigerian, sparking debate about her suitability as an ambassador.

This mob is of mainly individuals that overlook the injustice served upon them by the European/Dutch occupiers in their land but twitch every single time they find a minor problem with Africans.

Most people believe these individuals are rooted via the same Dutch people who occupy their land to divert the course of discussions away from their parasitic relationship with South Africa.

However, this stigma doesn’t seem to resonate with the majority of South Africans and many are coming out the woodworks to ensure they don’t put this blanket image on their people.

In a viral video, Pearl slammed the trolls, arguing that Chidimma is being targeted because she’s a black woman in a pageant. She pointed out that athletes and individuals in various industries are celebrated regardless of their heritage.

“She was born and raised in South Africa, so she is South African. She can’t call Nigeria home, even though her parents may be Nigerian. That’s beside the point,” Pearl asserted.

“If she were a white girl, half French or something else, you wouldn’t even notice. But because her name is what it is, it’s a big deal. We have people in our cricket teams, parliament, and various sectors whose parents aren’t South African, but they were born here. This girl is suffering because she’s black, female, and in a pageant?” Pearl fumed.
