#MUSICVID: Tanzanian Superstar Diamond Platinumz Gets Africa Talking With His Ghana-Must-Go Jacket In New Vid ‘OKA’

Nasibu Abdul Juma Issack the musician popularly known as Diamond Platnumz, has caught worldwide attention across the African continent once again, but not just for his music, this time it’s for his fashion sense in his new video Oka, featuring Mbosso.

In the anthem penned by Nusdervenom and Lizer Classic, it was clear that Mbosso put in a great effort. With Tanzanian bongo flava recording artist at the helm of Wasafi Records, their current hit “Oka” has a video to accompany it.

In one scene, Diamond Platinumz is seen rocking a see through rubber jackets sewn with ‘Ghana Must Go’ fabric. Ghana must go is a renowned phrase in Ghana and Nigeria. It dates back to history where Ghanaians were deported from Nigeria following a presidential executive order in 1983. The deportation was due to the fear that Ghanaians were taking over Nigerian jobs.

The immediate order left Ghanaians with little to know option but to use large bags of a very cheap wooven strain material which quickly adopted the name ‘Ghana Must Go’. For 30 years since.

Last week, the Tanzanian singer posted a picture on his social media captioning ” How do you call the bag made by this outfit material in your country…? Huko Kwenu Mnayaitaje Mabegi ya Nguo hizi? ” meaning what do you call these bags of clothes at your place?

Nigerians took to typing to express their opinion on the popular songwriter’s Ghana Must Go look which was meant to be a shock but it was a whole different response. Some found it stylish, others found it funny.

“Oka” by Diamond Platnumz is a love song in Swahili, although it’s sung in a very “street” style. It’s hard to put into words, but it conveys devotion in a distinctively local way. When you’re in love with someone, they have a certain aspect about them—how they walk, dance, etc.—that drives you crazy.
