1 week left for designer Accra Fashion Week registration, and Exactly two months away from Ghana’s very own Accra Fashion Week 2016 and it’s brought to you by Ghana’s very own FashionGHANA.com. Come and witness the best of West African models, the best fashion looks, network, and get to see designers from almost every fashion capital of Africa. This year, the week long of fashion is set to be Africa’s biggest sensation with various activities across the board!
From seminars, to designer meet and greets, to a Fashion Fair and much more. The aim was to give a platform to some of the most spectacular designers brands producing most quality fashion including those who have made a name and those who haven’t. For years, mind blowing designers have worked in Ghana and Africa as a whole but not had the chance to be international, instead have had to engage in direct one on one clientele order.
The aim of Accra Fashion Week is to see to it that Ghana would be the first sub sahara African country where our boutiques learn to embrace our various designers. With a lack of a buyers culture in Ghana, for years designers have spent hefty money performing at shows at which at most they receive media publicity. This year with the excessive participation of Ghanaian boutique, we will change this reality, hence the sub title, from Batik 2 Boutique.
Above are samples from Jamilla Vera Swai (Tanzania), Mark Johnson (UK), Bri Wireduah (Ghana) & Charity N’yongo (Zimbabwe). Just a few of the designers set to rock the runway. See all designers here at www.accrafashionweek.org/designers. With only 3 slots left, which designers will take it up and execute their fabulous native designs on the runway.
This has it’s upside, but it’s the beginning of a new world of fashion shows! We aim to inspire the continuous inclusions of fashion boutiques in Ghanaian fashion shows after Accra Fashion Week. For designers looking to put on a show, there are various fashion shows in the capital of Ghana, Accra. For designers looking for business, your only stop is Accra Fashion Week 2016. Accra Fashion Week is brought to you by FashionGHANA.com. 4 years ago, we discovered that there was an extraordinary amount of talent in Ghana, however the conceptions of African fashion on the continent was totally different to the perception that was given in the west.
Most of the hailed designers that carried the title African designers were not based in Africa, and most of Africa’s greatest talents were not even known. And although most of them were acknowledged in their local press, these were entertainment platforms that never made it their mode to consistently highlight fashion.
So we launched FashionGHANA.com to bring you an online boutique and a blog, for the mere fact to have a historical platform that logs our fashion activities and helps propel African designers on the continent. And with nothing but mere passion to ensure we develop our African talents, in four years we have turned African fashion into a world wide sensation, reached 1 million followers on facebook like no other African fashion blog (that’s without facebook adverts and it would have been 2 million by now if facebook would stop messing with our reach) and much more success.
FashionGHANA paved the way for African based fashion blogs to derive more locally based content and changed the phase of African fashion. And now we bring you Accra Fashion Week 2016.
