In the fashion world, it often seems that relationships are as momentary and superficial as a double air kiss. But the business of style is also a cooperative enterprise, one built on declaring and sharing favorite things. Fashion people have no problem declaring their love — for a sweater, a trend, or even another person. Just ask models Edem Debrah and Atigma.
The two love birds shocked the fashion industry as they came out of the blue to tie the knot. Not many saw that coming and not much attendance was requested by the couple. Atigma – now Mrs. Debrah – explained their decision to go under the radar:
“I remember having a conversation about marriage with my dad When I was about 14yrs old. I told him if I did get married it’ll be on a week day during morning mass.
We’d bless our marriage and then go about our business, and he asked me what if my man wanted a big wedding, I smiled at him because I knew the man I’d be marrying would want the same thing as I did and 13 years later it came to pass that at 7:30am on a Friday morning, we got married in-front of a public official. Edem Debrah, this is me now, your wife, your friend, your life partner, I let go of all I was before as I enter into this new phase of our lives. Thank You for deciding to spend the rest of your life with me and I promise to spend every waking hour making you proud of me. With all that is within me I love you. And I promise to be by your side come what may till death do us part.”
It’s beautiful to see members of the African fashion world get together to create families. Below are pictures of Mr and Mrs. Debrah.
