A Fashion Show On The French National Day: Defile The Mode When Ghana Plays With French Fashion

On July 14th, France celebrates it’s national Day. This year’s celebration was held in the French Embassy, Accra. By 5: 30PM, the guests have started arriving, each and everyone was given a warm reception. Music at the background was provided by Benjamin Lebrave of Akwaaba Music, with a resplendent cocktail which was a perfect match for the celebration. Mostly the French people made it all glorious. The occasion was graced by the France Ambassador to Ghana and the Minister of Sports, Hon. Mahama Ayariga.

 
After a quick and interactive speeches by the ambassador and the minister, the fashion show started freshly in grand style with a large number of the audience gathered around the runway. It was organised by Institut Francais of Ghana with the help of Spice Events & Models and the support of Bollore, Renault Tracks, Total, Allianz, Surf publications and Societe Generale. Da Viva – fabrics, Dark and Lovely – hair dressing, Kukis parlor(make up), Alliance Francaise of Accra.

Only a few of the Ghanaian fashion designers were selected to give their views of French Fashion. In all, four of them did well to showcase what they’ve got to offer. It includes, Michael Gamor – Art Michael, Nathaniel Nunoo – Nuna Couture, Kofi Gyedu – DressMyth and Cessy couture.

Nice and beautiful models strut the runway with these amazing designs. The first was by Kofi Gyedu of DressMyth fashion brand. He showed charm and elegance in beautiful dresses worn in the 20’s and 30’s. He was followed by Nathaniel Nunoo, also of Nuna couture, a fashion lable well known for classic men’s and women’s wear. He presented a collection inspired by the 40’s and 50,s fashion in France. The next to showcase a collection of designs was Cessy Couture. She believes in quality outfit for women of all ages and has attention to detail. Her designs revolved around clothes used in the 90,s by the French. The last but not the least was Michael Gamor of Art Michael. He’s regarded as one of the top fashion Designers in Ghana at the moment. He blends African fashion in style with the use of fabrics such as GTP, Vlisco and Woodin. He had a fantastic show when it got to his turn.
