By far she is one of the most prominent figures when it comes to pushing African fashion in Africa and beyond. She managed to brand Dakar into one of Africa’s fashion capitals, whilst being one of the most popular designer brands in Africa herself. If you are unaware who, we are referring to Adama Paris.
Dakar Fashion Week is back again for 2013 and will be taking place between 18th-23 June 2013, a fashion week that is highly integrated in the Senegalese culture, with the participation of many designers from Senegal and some abroad. The goal of Dakar Fashion Week is not only to expose the strengths of modern African fashion, but also support organizations that assist street children in Senegal. Dakar Fashion Week 2013 this year is set to help and support young designers and models in their ambitions and to open them up to the international fashion market. Attendees will also be enlightened by a cultural mix of creativity, such as music and performances. As stated by the organisers “The ultimate goal of Dakar Fashion Week 2013 is to introduce our guests, partners and viewers from around the world to Africa.”
