For those who don’t know, Becca is a soul songstress who made it onto the music scene of Ghana with her smash song ‘African Woman’. The song was so big she was an instant celebrity. Just like her song, her style went hand in hand with her persona. Becca then usually had some viral images and was seen in headwraps, prints, and in designs by African/Ghanaian designers which wasn’t so common in those days.
Fast forward to today, as you read this right now, the songstress is getting ridiculed on social media for her outfit to the Ghana Movie Awards 2016. Becca’s outfit was borderline hideous. Borderline because maybe not so much, but looked like something more for a belly dancing session than a red carpet. She wore a Swarovski stoned outfit styled by Jijiglam. Not sure if she was the one responsible for that thing in her hair.
But don’t be mistaken, Becca has also had some amazing fashion days in some really hot styles. However, unlike other celebs, her bad days really excel her past her good ones. It’s almost like no one acknowledges Becca when she is on point. Becca also executed another awkward look at the Glitz Style Awards 2016. Oh lard, in a dress by @sima_brew styled by @bveyofficial. I mean her outfit was so questionable.
Considering the last two events are the most recent renowned red carpet events in Ghana, it does leave a sour taste of fashion for the public of the songstress. Luckily for her, her lady like persona and natural girl look still manages to maintain her reputation in public. Had she been like any other loud mouth celebrity with drama here and there in the press, she would have been crucified for such outfits.
Our advice to Becca is to maintain the elegant girl around the way look which she continues to do on her regular snaps and for the red carpets, maybe stick to her African woman look we all fall in love with when we see her do it. Don’t join the league of ladies trying to be revealing unless you see it and it really strikes you. And look more to designers like Bri Wireduah, She By Bena or Christie Brown for your red carpet looks. On that note, check out these fabulous Becca moments and find more on her iG at @BeccaAfrica
