Nigerian stylist and art director, Daniel Obasi is back but this time in collaboration with Vlisco and A White Space Creative Agency with a 5 minutes fashion film featuring a variety of young African creatives putting into practice what Afrofuturism truly stands through their respective mediums.
It’s a wonderful creative masterpiece to begin the year; it shows Lagos, Nigeria in a wholly different and exciting new light.
According to the film blurb, An Alien In Town is a short fashion film that “follows two stylishly clad humans who take on the responsibility of teaching a new found alien how to fit within the Lagos metropolis.”
The Old Meets the New
The film features designs from renowned designers Tokyo James and Abiola Olusola who used Vlisco’s special collection. The 5-minute film is a simple, poignant futuristic vision of Lagos interspersed with vintage elements and cinematography for a beautiful mix of old and new.
The designs featured in An Alien In Town show how wax prints can still be edgy, youthful and cool.
