The western culture has greatly affected the fashion of our women. Although these foreign fashions have complemented ours to enrich our fashion, the former has been copied blindly. Apparently, our women have copied the foreign dressing styles without its associate use and reasons of its fashion. This is evident in our campuses when one sees a half dressed lady going to a lecture hall or that fashion ‘inappropriate’ place. Such wrong use of fashion posses questions about the decency, values and morality of the 21st century Ghanaian women. The commission believes it is time the African lady learns the proper use of the foreign fashion and moreover appreciates the African style. The women also need to know the values of what we the Ghanaians believe of women to be ‘Aketesia’ which literary means ‘to cover and hide’. The women’s commission has taken the responsibility this year to explain to the youth and ladies the essence of fashion and the need for us not to copy blindly.
