Alek Wek Fires At Instagram Models “Anything that those girls get for instant gratification, have to pay for it later.”

In this new modern age and time, almost all forms of businesses are revolting, and believe it or not, so is the modelling industry. There are a new age of models that are making a career from the instagram following as seen here ‘Models With 100,000 followers can get about $1500 Per Pic: The New Age Of Models’.

However, former super model Alek Wek who was born in rural South Sudan and made her way to stardom by being scouted has something to say about this. In an interview with Page Six the South Sudanese model threw shade on models making their way to stardom and said….

“I think the fashion industry has gotten to a place where it is embarrassing. When I think of ‘Instagram models,’ I say you have to take baby steps. You cannot just walk straight onto the runway. When I was working, there was no digital. We actually worked, we used Polaroids,”

That sounds like advice right, until she stated “Anything that those girls get for instant gratification, [they’ll] have to pay for it later.”

Wek is a model and who began her fashion career at the age of 18 in 1995. She has been hailed for her influence on the perception of beauty in the fashion industry and has walked for big brands such as Chanel, Gucci, Dior and YSL, and more. She has now embraced a path toward designing.

There are many models who have risen to stardom lately with large following of instagram followers, and might not take her words to kindly. Models such as Leomie Anderson established her path to modelling via instagram before getting her cut with Victoria’s Secret.
