Fashion Nova is a US-based fast fashion retail company. The company operates online and has five brick-and-mortar locations. The company is known to use Instagram to gain earned media for its clothing by interacting with users and generating publicity through a mix of models, celebrities, and other customers.
Let’s be honest, Fashion Nova is one of the most impressive fashion enterprises established over recent years. Their social media growth antics are unmatchable. However, the brand has also been penalized many times over plagiarizing designs. From Versace to playboy to smaller brands like Riot Society, Chrome Hearts & More.
Fashion Nova Vs B-Fyne
And there is a chance the social media tactical giant might be taunting another brand to its lawsuit list. And this time, it’s Nigeria’s B Fyne.
Bfyne is a swimwear and resort brand that made its viral mark in the fashion scene in 2010s, when it launched a series of unique swimwear outfits that signature’d the brands style. It was founded by Buki Ade, a Nigerian American fashion designer. See one of the brand’s most popular looks below.

Nigeria’s B-Fyne Has Been Dealing With Plagurism
Back in 2018, Bfyne spotted out a Brazilian brand that attempted to plagiarize their work when it dropped an identical swimsuit to that of Bfynes work in Swimwear Fashion Week as seen below.
There wasn’t any real following to that except the Brazilian brand was hit with a lot of negative pr. However, Bfyne may have a new plagiarizing challenger, and that is fashion giant Fashion Nova. Recently a style influencer by the name of Becky Stallion took to her Instagram to flaunt her new swimsuit from Fashion Nova, which is totally identical to that of the Nigerian brand Bfyne, as seen below.

Being such a large company (Fashion Nova) that operates through social media influencers and not runway collections, campaign and adverts, there is no telling when your intellectual designs has been copied by such a brand unless one comes across a client or continuously surveys their website.
We can not confirm 100% if this is a plagiarized effort by Fashion Nova, or if it could possibly a partnership or a deal, but what we are sure of is there is no such acknowledgement of this item of Bfyne and the chances they are unaware they have been copied by Fashion Nova is very likely.
Fashion Nova Is Not New To Being Sued
In November 2019, Versace announced that it was suing Fashion Nova, arguing that the fast-fashion company had deliberately copied its “most famous and recognisable designs”, including its famed black and gold Barocco print, and the iconic “Jungle Print” popularised by J.Lo in 2000 (and revisited at the luxury house’s SS20 show). Playboy also sued the brand late last year (2020), alleging Fashion Nova’s version of their iconic Playboy Bunny outfit featuring a bowtie, strapless satin corset, bunny ears and white tail is an “attempt to confuse and mislead consumers,” according to a suit filed in Los Angeles federal court. Back in 2018, Fashion Nova was also slapped with a lawsuit, accusing it of copying another apparel company’s copyright protected design. According to the complaint the brand Riot Society filed in a California federal court, Fashion Nova “knowingly and intentionally used [its original two-dimensional ‘Panda Rose’] design in the production of unauthorized goods,” thereby running afoul of federal copyright law. Chrome Hearts also joined the list of brands that sued the fast fashion giant Fashion Nova for copyright infringement. The label filed a lawsuit in a California federal court on Thursday regarding Fashion Nova’s apparel featuring graphics resembling Chrome Hearts’ recognizable horseshoe-inspired designs.
