The show which was virtual via Livestream had an audience made up of only Versace employees. The show set comprised of a sandy sea-bed catwalk in blue light, with fallen columns, decaying arches and the remains of an underwater city. Models were made to look like sea creatures. They had damp hair and dewy skin which brought the maritime vision of the show to life. There were shells and starfish designs from crystal-encrusted bra tops to fashionable embellishments on classic black blazers among others. The collection was so full of colors and magical. Three women Jill Kortleve, Alva Claire and Precious Lee als omade history by being the first plus-size models to walk Donatella Versace’s runway at Milan Fashion Week (MFW) last Friday 25 September. Until then, Milan Fashion Week which wrapped up on Monday 28 September had not been at the forefront of featuring larger models. According to the brand, while we dream of a world that is a better place for everyone, we need to start building it. On the night, Versace changed the narrative of runway modeling by making the show plus-size inclusive. It seems the fashion week runways are slowly changing for the better.
