When it comes to South African fashion, there is no doubt Chelsea Jean Lamm is by far one of our favorite designers slowly bubbling to the top. His work is a unique mixture of couture and nature and seems to be in line with that of Iris van Herpen as well as that of the earlier days of South Africa’s Iris van Herpen.
Chelsea has always been one to break the mold of conventional, taking his creativity to higher heights with an extensive inclusion of plant-like designs with pastel color radiance. His recent collection and look book is titled the ‘Amalgamare’ collection.
The designs were inspired by the larger than life paper collage ‘Goura Victoria’ made by artist Ashley Elizabeth.
The composition ranges from outfits made from silk in different shades of blue, red and orange, to outfits made from the purest Italian silk satin with a unique digital print based on an analogue contemporary fine art collage. Each element has been carefully draped and sewn one at a time by hand
The lookbook below was shot at Clifton Beach in Cape Town with a fabulous team that brought the collection to life. See it below.
