Of many designers from around the world that participated and are participating in the Ethical fashion initiative and Alta Roma 2013 in Italy, Christie Brown from Ghana was of the blessed designers to take part in this event. The summer session of AltaRomAltaModa 2013 began in July 6th and will continue until July 10th. The project also features the “Who is on Next?” project for young talents organised in collaboration with Vogue Italia.
The Alta Roma organisers also use this extravagant showcase to shed light upon their local talent with a preview competition that took place on July 5. The competition was only open to ‘Made in Italy’ productions and was recognized as one of the most important creative platforms worldwide. It is a once in a lifetime chance for Italian based designers to have their work and skills assessed by a prestigious jury of industry members.
Anyways back to Africa. The Ethical Fashion Initiative and Altaroma presented for the first time in Rome, the collections of Ghanaian designers Christie Brown and Kiki Clothing. The parade also includes brands such as Stella Jean and PortenierRoth, who selected ethical fabrics handmade from the communities of Burkina Faso and Mali, through the process dell’EFI. This project was carried out with the support of (SECO) Secretary of State Swiss Economy.
We will be sure to update you as soon as we recieve any images. But for now, all we can say is congratulations to Christie Brown and Kiki Clothing for representing Ghanaian talent on such a platform. See a pre video for Christie Brown below.
