I find cleaning out my closet to be one of the most emotional days in my life. It sounds easy but it’s not, it comes with swinging of moods from being excited to second guessing, ruthlessness to fantasising etc.
“I can’t wait to get rid of this rubbish hanging in here”
“Oh this is my favorite! (After you’ve said that about 100 different pieces)
“I never wear this shirt anyway”
“This was a birthday gift from my auntie 6 years ago, I feel bad about getting rid of it”
“Oh, I should hold on to this for sometime”
“Excited to shop for new things”
Giving your personal style a cold check, every woman must take out all the clothes they own every 5 years to reassess them considering the changes in the body and age.
I strongly advise you take out everything in there , once the subject have been laid out, it will be much easier to parse through.
Trying them on one after the other helps you identify the ones to an the ones to get rid of.
An oldie but perpetual goodie: If you haven’t worn it in a year, what makes you think you’re going to wear it now? Don’t hoard items under false pretenses.
This exercise will help you see what your wardrobe has been lacking and make you replace your worn out staples.
Remember when you are finding this excercise difficult, you can always hijack a friend you trust when it comes to fashion to get an opinion. And not to mention you will probably have more fun doing it.
Lastly separate clothing in the toss, donate and sell into boxes or plastic bag. Now enjoy your cleaning and cheers for a job well done .
