Black lipstick is no longer a Halloween beauty staple, the edgy colour has already gained foothold in the mainstream beauty regimen of a number beauty stars – read Solange, Lorde. Judith Heard and Tiwa Savage. There’s nothing as fierce and bold as black lipstick now.

Though it can come off as evocative and overly edgy for an everyday look, it looks pretty nice when worn properly and it’s usually best used for high profile events preferably to a fashion event. So we are not confused, the black lip colour is not for everybody, it is for the confident, fierce and edgy woman; who is not afraid to push the boundaries when it comes to beauty.

Here is how you can achieve that much-needed daring black lip

Step 1.) Exfoliate your lips; your lips are softer and smoother after you exfoliate. Apply Vaseline on your lips and leave for a minute or two. Then brush your lips in a circular motion with a child’s brush because of its softness. Brushing your lips will help you remove any flakiness. Then you apply little amount of lip balm to keep the lips moist.

Step 2.) Apply a lip-liner- Run the liner in a matching shade along the perimeter of your lips for a borderline

Step 3.) Your lipstick will last longer by applying a light coat of concealer to your lips as a base. Blot the excess product off with a tissue. Then apply a little more lipstick and power your lips for a translucent look. Then apply your
lipstick again for the last time. So it’s Concealer—Lipstick—-Blot–-Lipstick—-Powder—-Lipstick.

Step 4.) To get a clean finish, apply your lipstick with a lip brush, this will help you stick within your lip line for a perfect neat finish.

Step 5.) Avoid the glossy finish, it will make your lipstick look messy

Step 6.) Don’t forget to keep your eye makeup as simple and plain as possible. You don’t want to overwhelm your face.
