Aside the fact that he marks 10 years in the industry today, asides the intriguing performance for the valentines day show dubbed F14 concert organized by singer Kwabena Kwabena, what really caught my eyes was the fact that Samini was actually wearing an African print tank top with a beast pocket during the performances.
Not just because it was made of African print material, though it is also a factor, but it taught me one thing, that some Ghanaian designers are on the edge of bringing diversity, style and creativity in contrast to the traditional way of sewing our prints. Not only did he wear it better because Samini does have style, but it really looked just like how a tank top ought to be with an additional breast pockets.
Nevertheless Samini is not the Christopher Colombus of printed tank tops since fellow musician Wanlov the Kuborlor did so before, but it just it looked feminine on him. :)
My thoughts on this trend? I think this is a nice step in the right direction for Ghanaian designers, we have often been restricted when it comes with sewing with prints. I believe designers should think and act outside the box.
