Afrodyssée is a landmark event when it comes to seeing the best contemporary African creatives in fashion and design, Afrodyssée gives Geneva the opportunity to emphasize its status as a crossroad of cultures and communities. Highlighting African designers with a myriad of inspirations, Afrodyssée makes its audience travel and enhances the essential status of African creation when defining today’s aesthetics. For its sixth edition, Afrodyssée will showcase over 30 designers carefully selected for their design’s uniqueness and sustainable engagement through the respect of the environment, dignified working conditions, valorization of women in the production chain, and perpetuation of traditional know-how. During three days, the Maison communale de Plainpalais will groove to the rhythm of Sebastiao Loopes and transform into a meeting space for fashion and craftsmanship lovers. The opening day on Friday, May 5th will allow journalists, creatives, and design professionals to exchange and discover the Afrodyssée universe. That evening, 400 guests were selected among decision-makers, business and trading leaders, political officials and diplomats, influencers, and celebrities from the art and sports world will attend the opening soirée. Saturday, May 6th is the flagship day of the event: designer’s market, fashion shows, food village, photo booth, and party; the Afrodyssée world opens its door to close to 3,000 attendees who will discover the designers and trends of tomorrow. Finally, the event will close on an intellectual note on Sunday, May 7th; a day dedicated to conferences and workshops on different topics related to Africa with experts from different fields under the sponsorship of the State of Geneva.
