Elsa Majimbo is a Kenyan internet comedienne from Nairobi. Her satirical monologues usually feature her crunching potato crisps, leaning back to a pillow and using a pair of tiny 1990s sunglasses as a prop. She gained recognition during the Covid 19 quarantine period by making homebased funny quarantine videos.
Elsa Majimbo To The World
After surfacing 100,000s of followers, international celebrities have now flocked to align themselves with the hilarious Kenyan star. Rihanna recently published her video on her platform as well as Naomi Campbell who is currently the tourism ambassador for her country.
A couple of weeks back she spent time with Naomi on executing a vlog whilst shopping and she also appeared on Naomi’s ‘No Filter’ show. Her video was reposted by Bad Gal Rihanna on instagram, and she recently featured on the cover of teen vogue.
To put it bluntly she is in the Vogue circles.
And her recent connection proves it. Majimbo is soon to partner with Valentino. Possibly a new collection. The Kenyan star announced the news rejoicefully in a post.
“I am SO proud and excited to announce my entry into high fashion with an upcoming collaboration with @maisonvalentino!!!!! my team has worked so hard on this and I can’t wait to share more details!”
There is not sufficient detail exposed as to the ethos or origins of the collaboration but rest assured all particulars are surely set to be revealed.
Valentino Is Struggling
Valentino on the other hand has suffered a major financial crisis recently. It was reported the renowned brand’s profits were decimated by a 27% drop in sales.
According to hypebeast.com the decline in performance came despite a 77 percent surge in e-commerce sales on its web store amid the global coronavirus pandemic.
Worldwar Of Fashion Brands
China’s recovering market also contributed to lessening the blow, increasing 44 percent in retail sales over the course of last year.
Revenues for the Italian fashion label came in at €882 million EUR for 2020, or roughly $1.065 billion USD, although the company managed to see a “rosy upturn” during the fourth quarter under the leadership of new CEO Jacopo Venturini.
Valentino May Need Majimbo
So overall, now would be a good time for the said brands to expand their markets through all means possible, even if working with professional braggers from Kenya. In other words, Majimbo could be serving more of an increment to Valentino’s success than they would be doing to hers.
