Beyonce continues to turn heads by moving in the right direction. It is wonderful when the wider world rocks prints to showcase their appreciation for Africa and African culture. However, African prints at times is not always African fashion, and a swift move to supporting by brands is soon to come.
For example Beyonce was recently spotted in a red top by Stella Jean, although it may be print, Stella Jean is actually an Italian designer who has made success of her brand using wax print and comes across as African fashion.
Nevertheless, Beyonce is taking the first step in that direction and possibly leading the movement for celebrities to start dawning African brands. You would assume something of that nature would be ignited by Lupita Nyong’o herself, but nope, straight from the queen Bee.
She was recently spotted wearing a colorfully appliquéd black Selly Raby Kane kimono and rainbow skirt in a rather eclectic way on the streets of New York City. She decided to wear the look with messy beachy waves, burgundy lipstain and black binocular-like glasses. See images below.
