A young designer who broke onto the scene fashion scene at the Gold Models Fashion Graduation Show in 2013 wowing the audience with an eclectic style of colorful floral prints. Greg Jonez has showcased at show after shows however his next big step was Accra Fashion Week 2016 where he was scheduled to showcase as a young designer. Yet the former chef managed to steal the hearts of many at his latest event. We caught up with the young budding designer to pick his brain and find out what’s next. FashionGHANA: Can you explain to everyone why you call yourrself Greg Jones the chef? @gregjonez_defashionchef: I call myself GREG JONEZ-de fashion chef because once a chef,always a chef and when am in the kitchen cooking,the kind of passion I put into cooking is the same or even more I put in when mixing fabrics,there are two major things I don’t take for granted when cooking is the taste and garnishing,so when I am cooking my fabrics,i consider my details as the taste and the as garnishing as the creativity in my designs.In a nut shell I take my designing in the same process as of cooking. Cooking and fashion designing? @gregjonez_defashionchef: Comparing fashion to cooking,Fashion is a lucrative as cooking but you excelling in both fields depends on how nice your product is and also how you brand yourself. FashionGHANA: Describe your Accra Fashion Week experience. @gregjonez_defashionchef: My experience at Accra fashion week was awesome and fun aswell and i really congratulate the organisers of the show.And am really looking forward to a better show next year FashionGHANA: Which country would you most likely wish to showcase at? @gregjonez_defashionchef: South Africa is the country I would like to showcase at (SA Fashion Week) FashionGHANA: You were a very vocal and open supporter of NDC, what was the basis upon which u supported Mahama and how do u feel about his loss? @gregjonez_defashionchef: I supported president mahama because I see him to be a visionary leader and looking at the kind of project he as been able to accomplish in the space of three years,I think he needs another four years to complete what he started and as for him loosing I think it a was win or loose and Ghanaians decided and we have to accept the majority decision and we hope the president elect will do better because we all want a better Ghana. FashionGHANA: Do u think there is a place for politics in fashion? @gregjonez_defashionchef: Some might not agree but yes I think politics has a place in fashion. FashionGHANA: So whats next for Greg Jones de fashion chef? @gregjonez_defashionchef: The next thing for GREG JONEZ -de fashion chef is to take the brand to the higher level by attracting more market and showcase on bigger platform and also do more celebrity and TV show styling to give the brand more exposure and recognition.Fashion chef is currently preparing for his exclusive men collection for 2017.
