Social media star, Ghanaian actress and philanthropist Fella Precious Frimpong, is known mostly for her role in Yolo now married to rapper Medikal has been silent on her fashion line FM by Fella Makafui until recently.
Prior to her marriage the Yolo star once boasted on her pride as an entrepreneur. This was centered around her Wine & Liquor business, her role as a public figure, and actress and her ‘recently set-up’ business (at the time) FM by Fella Makafui.
FM By Fella Makafui
FM by Fella Makafui was a clothing line set up by the social media star creating a range of ready-to-wear clothes of which she heavily promoted on her social media platforms.
The clothing brand was launched with it’s own store back in 2018 as seen below, and as always FashionGHANA.com was quick to support.
The fashion label even hosted its own instagram account with 10s of thousand followers at @fmFellamakafui of which we will see constant updates from regularly just as that below.
Decline Of FM
The popularity she generated around the clothing line was quick, but then after seemed to decline day by day and mysteriously disappeared without any notice.
Many may not have noticed, but being the fashion blog, we are concerned about the fabulous brands in and around Ghana and Africa we caught the decline of FM by Fella Makafui in motion.
Temporary Shut Down Or Permanent
Although it seems the brand has been shut down, we can not confirm if it’s a temporary or permanent shut down.
The Instagram handle @fmFellaMakafui has either been removed or disabled. Ever since her marriage and the birth of her new child, she has not made mention of FM by Fella Makafui. Also all images on her personal social media page depicting her flaunting FM clothes have been deleted.
Ghanaian Celebrities Continue To Fail With Clothing Brands
In the cace that FM failed or has been closed down, Fella Makafui joins the long list of celebrities that have failed to run a clothing brand successfully.
The list includes John Dumelo, Yvonne Nelson, Guru, Sarkodie, Deborah Vanessa and many many more. This is an issue we have covered and followed since 2016 which you can read in depth below.
Starting A Fashion Brand Is Not A Hobby
The truth is most celebrities are swarmed with popularity, and with limited celebrity endorsements in Ghana, many of them seek to use and turn this popularity into cash.
Clothing brands are usually one of their initial ventures but many of them underestimate the difficulty and time starting a clothing brand absorbs and in less than months they end up shutting down shop.
Hope For Ghanaian Celebs
Lucky for them with the growing culture of social media, most advertisers are turning away from the traditional methods of advertising on radio, newspapers and TV and turning towards them.
Hopefully, the income will prevent them from randomly venturing into businesses they can’t handle. Never the less, in the case that FM is temporarily shut down, we wish the brand a speedy recovery and look forward to what it may have in store.
