It’s not easy putting Joan’s titles in a headline. In fact it’s almost a paragraph. Joan Okorodudu is one of Nigeria’s prominent fashion figures. Sh has embarked on many projects all in the name of pushing Nigerian fashion forward.
Some of these projects include Nigeria’s Next Super Model, Isis Models which was one of the few agencies to see it’s girls travel around the world participating in the main fashion weeks. She is also the founder of Ecowas Fashion Week, Africa International Fashion Week, and has been instrumental in a lot of activities in Nigeria.
This year, New African Woman acknowledge her hard work at the new African woman awards 2017. The fearless Gambian human rights activist won New African Woman magazine’s Woman of the Year Award at the the ceremony which took place in Dakar Wednesday night. Fatoumatta Jallow-Tambajan was instrumental in galvanising the opposition that eventually beat long-term now exiled leader Yahya Jammeh.
Held at a glitzy Gala Dinner at the Terrou-Bi hotel in the Senegalese capital Dakar on 12 April, the Awards, now in its second edition, recognise, celebrate and honour African women who have made exceptional impact and change in their countries or communities in the past 12 months.
