85% of the time she is wearing out of this word crazy gear, but for the 15% she is on point and here are one of those moment.
Lady Gaga wears best of British (Elle UK Article)
Her tastes have veered from latex to vintage Versace, with one-off meat dresses and cigarette sunglasses peppering the mix. But now Lady Gaga is turning an altogether more ladylike cheek and embracing the newest work of British designers.
Maybe it’s a grown-up makeover following her allegedly acrimonious split with longtime creative director Laurieann Gibson; maybe it’s a nod to the style heritage of a country that has become her home away from home. Either way, Gaga has hit a style note and seems to be sticking with it.
Her best-of-British tribute could be traced to September 2010, when Gaga wore a gown from Alexander McQueen’s final collection to the MTV VMAs. The current spree started when she returned to London and wore a Simone Rocha dress out and about in the city in early October.
Her Brit commitment has intensified in recent days. Last week, Gaga revisited McQueen for a head-to-toe runway look—complete with gold skullcap—at the Bambi awards in Germany. On Tuesday, she showcased not one, but two vivid looks from Osman’s S/S ’12 collection. Yesterday it was Roksanda’s turn, with an assist from Philip Treacy for the headwear.
All British roads lead to Burberry, and today Gaga wore a blouse and skirt from the label’s African-print-rich S/S ’12 collection.
We like the visual zing of Gaga wearing British designers’ work after all the perfectly nice styles modelled by the perfectly nice Kate Middleton and Samantha Cameron. Who do you prefer: outré Gaga or new Gaga?
