As much as this pandemic is creating excruciating business moments for many fashion brands, there is no denying is it also producing a lot of innovative business ideas for those that don’t wish to be blown with the wind. It seems the midst of fewer events and fewer finances from fashion lovers may have impacted the business aspirations of Ghana’s well-known Christie Brown.
Christie Brown Launches ChristiexCB
The label recently announced its new ready-to-wear line dubbed ChristiexCB. According to the designer this new line will host ‘Pieces that are easy enough to integrate into your existing wardrobe but that also have just the right amount of quirk to put a spring in your step.’
A New Leaf
This somewhat insinuates the alternative for the renowned signature Christie Brown’s pieces. In a few clips of images and a video, we finally get to see a glimpse of resort fashion from the brand despite what was claimed by their previous collection as seen below.
In the only image published from the ChristiexCB new line, we see Ghanaian plus-size style influencer Hayet Rida posing in stunning silk wide pants and a cover-up with no couture or extensive details. Something that would have never been expected from the Christie Brown collection.
This hints the brand could take a directions somewhat in line with popular resort African fashion brands that have made an identity for themselves by pushing resort fashion and collection as covered below..
However, other pieces in the ChristiexCB show that the brand is not only going to be filled with resort-fashion but also other casual African print designs that would be less costly than the usual Christie Brown fashion such as that of the very popular True Fonds or Grass Fields, as displayed in the visuals below.
Acccording to Christie Brown In their own words…
“I have always wanted to have a line that speaks to the daily wardrobe needs of a woman on the go. Pieces that are easy enough to integrate into your existing wardrobe but that also have just the right amount of quirk to put a spring in your step…
The idea for #ChristiesxCB is to have a source for interesting African-inspired basics (but not so basic😉) that one can curate to create their own unique aesthetic. Style in your own unique language. An opportunity for self-expression like none other… but most importantly… a line that allows you to feel special no matter your budget!
I hope you are as excited as I am about @ChristiesxCB because I am a #ChristiesBelle at heart.”

UPCOMING TOP EVENTS!
Ghana’s leading fashion event Accra Fashion Week is scheduled for 7-11 December 2022 following their 5th-year celebration last year in 2021. Accra Fashion Week is a platform for African designers that can be compared to fashion weeks across the major capitals. It aims to fill the void which sees tremendous creativity and culture across the continent with the absence of an operating fashion infrastructure.
The epic event took place at Ghana Dubai in Accra, and saw models march down the steps from the Kwame Nkrumah Monument whilst being followed by a spotlight, before circulating the central fountains. Memories of the exciting night still give chills as guests revisit the experience on youtube.
However, rest assured that 2022 is going to be even more exciting with greater performances and an upgraded designer collection. FashionGHANA.com is sure to bring you the exclusives we did on www.FashionGHANA.com/TV. All last year’s shows are available to watch on youtube. Designer’s registration is ongoing on the AccraFashionWeek.org website.
As we embark on another year of celebrating African culture, our theme for 2022 is “Afrofuturism.” This term was created to explore the developing intersection of cultural aesthetic, philosophy of science, and philosophy of history as it relates to the African Diaspora. During this year’s events, Afrochella will bring “Afrofuturism” to life through fashion, food, art and music. In 2019, the African Diaspora returned home to the continent for the “Year of Return.” This year, we will explore the endless possibilities of what “Afrofuturism” could look like in 2022 and beyond.
