Following the success of the FashionistaGH Shopping Festival last year, the FashionistaGH fashion video crew are ready to do it once again at the end of March 2013. It’s a long way away but the team is already taking in registrations now.
The FashionistaGH Shopping Festival is a large exhibition for designers and accessible to any fashion lover under one big tent, and yes, it takes place @ The Plaice, Tradefair Centre in Ghana Accra, from March 30th to April 1st. See the video below, and then read our exclusive interview with the main man behind FashionistaGH, Ob Abenser.
INTERVIEW WITH OB ABENSER
Ob (Obodai) Abenser is one of the main creatives and founder behind FashionistaGH. A youtube channel that revolutionized Ghanaian Fashion with social media by providing quick coverage and clips of fashion activities online. Ob has also engaged in seminars to enlighten up and coming fashion entrepreneurs regarding business and branding.
Me: ME: How did it feel to complete the first fgshop last year and have it go successfully well?
Ob: All of us #TeamFashionistaGH were grateful for the events of the day. Especially to participating designers, all who came, contributing media and sponsors particularly Jameson.
Me: What can we expect from the next fgshop that would be different from the first?
Ob: It’ll be bigger, 3 days, a lot more exhibitors in numbers. And variety. A fantastic family day out. There’ll be games, bouncy castles, music and general entertainment.
Me: Bouncy castles, really?
Ob: actually, bouncy castle.
Me: Wow
Ob: For the kids, so mummy can shop in peace, we’ll find something for the guys too
Me: Ah ok, Any ideas of mixing entertainment with the fgshop? such as a fashion show or stage performances?
Ob: We have things planned ; product launches, activations, promos and more but for #fghshop Easter 2013 no fashion show yet
Me: We see many great fashion designers in Ghana, and a good number of them make some sales, however their outfits are not seen regularly on street fashion, what do you think the missing link is?
Ob: We believe we are society in transition. Most people are only now warming up to buying “designer wear” for everyday use. They mostly take such outfits only to special occasions. But as the designers are beginning to make ready to wear clothes, the situation will be changing soon
Me: Any plans to have a permanent shop?
Ob: To fill a void we indeed shall soon be opening the first of a line of #fghshop stores.
Me: Would the fgshop also host designers whose items are non African related?
Ob: Well as part of growth the event has now become a general lifestyle event so yes there’ll be variety.
Me: What would you like designers curious about being a part of the fgshop need to know?
Ob: Event is from March 30 – 1 April all the information is in our designer manual and vendors forms.
Me: Do you think the fgshop should go with an fgshop after party in African attire?
Ob: The last #fghshop had an #fghBusiness soiree so yeah something is definitely in the works
Me: Ok, thank you very much for your time.
Ob: You’re welcome, see you there.
