Festival International de Sélingué URBAIN MUSIC & MODE which stands for International festival of Sélingué Music and Fashion, took place from the 1st-3rd of May. Sélingué is a known area and river which stretchs through Niger and Mali. And across it is a great similarity between the music and fashion culture.
This event was plastered with top musicians from all sectors of the desert. And the audience was filled with all people from all Malian tribes, from Bambara, Tuareg, Dogon, Songhai, Senufo, Fulani and more. Musicians like Benzabo, Malikanw, Faty Kouyate all took to the stage and performed.
Where our interest lies was the haute fashion showcased on the night. One thing you have to love about fashion in certain part of conservative African cultures is how they maintain female fashion to gowns but experiment with various designs, styles and cuts.
The showcasing designers were Farah Fashion Design, MIMI Pedro and Donazara. Enjoy the images below.
