When we say creativity in Ghana hasn’t even begun, we mean that with a passion. Whilst most designers are swayed away by looking outwards for their next big outfit and emulating modern western designs with print fabrics, amazing local illustrators like @metakay are showing and proving to us the powers that be when they look within for inspiration.
His latest illustration depicts a fabulous styled dress made out of a locally popular Ghanaian delicacy called Kenkey. ‘Kenkey is a staple dish similar to sourdough dumpling from the Ga and Fante-inhabited regions of West Africa, usually served with pepper sauce and fried fish or soup, stew.’- Wikipedia
Why Kenkey Remains Popular In Ghana
Despite how tasty Kenkey may be, its affordability excludes its branding for the upper end of society hence why it remains a local dish. However, illustrator and designer Metakay just make all think twice. Check out his latest kenkey-turned-fashion illustration below.
