I don’t really care much about as I needed to voice out. Vision, mission, objectives and down to strategies of every association are keys to it successes and so it is to Models Union of Ghana (MUDUGA). Some days ago, the Union unveiled some models with the tagged “Celebrity Models”. Being a celebrity or famous person is not an appointment or position you claimed, there are processes you have to work through before you attained the status. How sweet will it be if the Union start their agenda signing partnerships with corporate organizations on behalf of the members so that by the end of a period, atleast their faces can in one or two branding materials which organizations give out to clients? Even if they have to do it for FREE; it’s a price people pay for celebrity status. Being an artiste manager, I know the difficulties in maintaining a celebrity status and from my experience dealing with models in Ghana; I don’t think they will like to face such challenges at this time of their career. Most Musicians and movie actors you know today as celebrities have done more FREE BEE than you can ever imaging. There are hundreds of thousands of billboards in Ghana; hardly would you see Ghanaian models on 1000 billboards campaigns. Tagging your members as celebrities doesn’t accord them the status and that will not bring them jobs.
