Dennis Nana Dwamena, better known as KiDi, is a Ghanaian high-life and afrobeats singer-songwriter. He is signed to Lynx Entertainment and formerly best known for his hit single Odo. Well, that’s changed ever since the release of his song ‘Say Cheese’.
The uptempo song served as a fabulous summer jam and a tiktok challenge internationally for the COVID-19 lockdown pandemic, read below.
However, just when you thought the song couldn’t get any bigger, the young Ghanaian artists managed to bag himself a remix by legendary musician Teddy Riley.
Teddy Riley aka Edward Theodore Riley is an American singer, songwriter, record producer and multi-instrumentalist credited with the creation of the new jack swing genre.
For those of you in Ghana who might not know what New Jack swing is, let’s just say you missed out on one of the best eras in music history. New Jack swing is like a cross between 70s rnb, and modern rnb with hard-hitting hip hop beats and two step production. Artists like Bobby Brown, New Edition, Janet Jackson, Bel Biv Divoe and Tony, Toni Tone coined this moment. You will definitely know of the song ‘Poison’, right? That’s a prime classic from the New Jack Swing Era.
Well, Teddy Riley is to ‘New Jack Swing’ music as Appietus is to Azonto. But not only is Teddy Riley known for his God Father contributions to New Jack Swing, but He was also a singer in Black street and in addition, has produced hits for Micheal Jackson, Black Street, Heavy D, Guy, Baby Face, and much more.
Beyonce might be the biggest artist of this time and her collab with Shatta Wale is legendary, but for old school music lovers, KiDi getting a remix with Teddy Riley could be just as hot!
The remix also came with a new video featuring the beautiful models Hehetror Rejoyce Stacy @realstacy and Akua Ambe @akua_ambe. Enjoy the newly edited version below with a newly done up video.
