Nigeria: Iam Isigo’s Resort 2015 “White Noise” Inspired Collection

After the loud, bold colours of the past few seasons, iamISIGO has opted for a minimal palette of black white and brown with head-to-toe stripes for their Resort 2015 collection which they have dubbed White Noise.

The black and white solids and bold vertical striped pieces in Moroccan crepe, cotton and chiffon are inspired by the phenomenon of the white noise image in which they saw “the beauty of random signals with the power of time series distributed over different frequencies.”

 
“The independent random variables which is typically the black pixels on a white background were transformed into stripes for this resort season.The rectangular grid inspired the rectangular shaped Bubu shirts, Bubu crop and Bubu Dress.The slits along with the mesh detail and uneven side pieces were inspired by the sequence of serially uncorrelated random variables with a zero mean and a finite variance.
The uniform probability distribution formed the base for all the oversize pieces sticking to our core brand values of being minimal but yet audacious.”

Artistic Director Bubu Ogisi muses, “Going back 15 to 20 years ago when we sat in front of the non-remote televisions then, waiting for a programme to start all I remembered was staring into the movement of the black pixels and wondering why they were confined to this box”.
The collection is spare yet rich in detail and movement, minimal yet interesting in keeping with the brands aesthetic and transcends the limits of the Resprt season with subtly dramatic pieces that can be worn individually or layered for effect.
