The pandemic may not be over, but the lockdown sure is (at least for us here in Ghana), events are resuming, social gatherings are increasing so there is no excuse to level up back on your style game.
But if there is anything we should have learned from the lockdown in regards to viruses from the East and the West, contaminated products from other countries, the businesses that struggled due to lack of social activities, the businesses that struggled due to lack of imports and so one…if there is one thing we definitely should have learned, that would be the importance of supporting, but not only supporting, really appreciating made in Ghana products.
One area that is still growing to maintain a stronghold in the world of Ghana’s fashion market is footwear. There are many great quality shoemakers in Ghana, creating fabulous footwear that could add esteem to any sophisticated man and a stylish lady out there. However, they are yet to surpass the harsh stages of identity and branding.
Although within this circle, what is lacking and almost impossible to find are high heel shoemakers. In our own research some years back, we discovered many cordwainers and shoemakers refrain from entering the world of high heels. It is almost impossible to get it right, the balancing, the comfort of the soles, the strength and durability to the meer shaping. For many years, most African print shoes have been crafted by cobblers that will skillfully glue the print on used or bought shoes they purchased from the market.
However, one fabulous Ghanaian brand is turning this around. They might not be the only, but definitely the first to catch our eyes. The brand has specialized in shoes for many years and has overcome the dangers of venturing into high heels and executed many mouth-watering footwear shoes capable of complimenting all sorts of ladies.
Now limiting ourselves to wearing shoes designed by the west is about to make a U-turn thanks to Taag Ghana. Combining quality and luxurious materials, with great design concepts and a touch of the resort lifestyle of Ghanaian ladies, their shoes are definitely a great reflection of the free and fabulous, and below are some images straight of their instagram accounts.
Now you now know where to indulge your desires of shoes, sorry Made In Ghana Shoes, at. Here

Ghana’s leading fashion event Accra Fashion Week is scheduled for 7-11 December 2022 following their 5th-year celebration last year in 2021. Accra Fashion Week is a platform for African designers that can be compared to fashion weeks across the major capitals. It aims to fill the void which sees tremendous creativity and culture across the continent with the absence of an operating fashion infrastructure.
The epic event took place at Ghana Dubai in Accra, and saw models march down the steps from the Kwame Nkrumah Monument whilst being followed by a spotlight, before circulating the central fountains. Memories of the exciting night still give chills as guests revisit the experience on youtube.
However, rest assured that 2022 is going to be even more exciting with greater performances and an upgraded designer collection. FashionGHANA.com is sure to bring you the exclusives we did on www.FashionGHANA.com/TV. All last year’s shows are available to watch on youtube. Designer’s registration is ongoing on the AccraFashionWeek.org website.
