Ghanaians Slander Designer Elikem Kumordzie For Publicly Calling Out Sarkodie On His ‘Country Side’ Video Shirt

This week has been a hell of a week when it comes to public criticism of one of the nation’s most popular musicians Sarkodie. He has been chastised by various individuals ranging from DJs, musicians, and industry moguls amongst others following his feature on the ‘Stir It Up’ remix song by the late Bob Marley.

Now to add insult to injury, Ghanaian designer, Elikem Kumordzie may just have hopped on the bandwagon of violating the legacy of Sarkodie.

Sarkodie’s current reigning hit song ‘Country Side’ features the one and only Black Sherif, one of the nations super star who rose to fame within the space on a year after he release his song ‘First Sermon’. Just before everyone could figure out if he was a one-hit-wonder or not, he followed up with an even more successful track ‘Kweku The Traveller’ which marked international success, and as the saying goes the rest is history.

Countryside Video On The Way

His collaboration with Sarkodie on their new song Country Side has also gained enormous appreciation across the world, so it was only right the two came together to make a video for the track.

Black Sherif as always never fails with his pseudo-retro yet contemporary fashion style, for those who like it. Sarkodie on the other hand chose to work with a buttoned beige shirt with baggy trousers. A look very similar to the works of the designer brand Adjabeng (If not them).

The duet decided to publish images of the bts video shoot giving their fans a taste of what is to come.

Elikem Spots The Unspottable

However, with sharp precision, Ghanaian fashion designer Elikem Kumordzie pointed out a horrific design flaw that should only exist when a designer is rushed to make an outfit in minutes.

According to his highlight, Elikem pointed out a tailoring flaw in the button placket of the shirt, and that one button didn’t align with the button slit, causing a crease in Sarkodie’s outfit. He quickly took to his Instagram and published the images with red highlights and the caption.

“Still got love for your talent bro, but your tailor no try.
.
Let me hook you up with something fresh next time 🙂.”

From a blogger’s or from a designer’s standpoint, it was swift, tactful, and well-identified. On the other hand, from one celebrity to another, being that Elikem wears both caps, followers were outraged that he would take it to his platform to call out the rapper in such a manner bringing shame to the video even before its release and responding to the designer.

One @mlblingbling stated “Dude! I am a fan of your art and hustle but I have to say, u don’t put a person on blast like that publicly and expect them to respect and work with you. That is egocentric and rude to them and kind of disrespectful to the local tailor he was probably supporting. DM him next time please.”

@Mr Ernie also wrote “You didn’t have to post that bro, be your brother’s keeper. You don’t pull down someone’s business just to raise yours😢 pheww!”

Over the 24 hours, Elikem’s critique seemed to dominate discussion centered around the soon-to-be-released video and will definitely have spectators looking out for the flaws in Sarkodie’s fashion. He was even invited to Max TV to discuss the scenario. There is also a high chance the creative behind the outfit will not be too comfortable crediting themselves now.
