Her picture took social media by storm. It was not a professional shoot, nor a girl striking a pose, nor a girl showing off her curvaceous figure. She was simply a beautiful girl with a great skin tone that got snapped by surprise.

However, the Sudanese beauty who goes by the name of Anok Yai went viral with thousands of social media pages and blogs posting about her where she automatically gained 16,000 followers. If you missed that story read it here.
Yai, 19 then, was a student of Biochemistry at Plymouth State University, who moved to the U.S. from South Sudan in 2000. She was having a good time at Howard University’s homecoming when a photographer began taking photos of her.
According to her the photographer Steve ‘theSUNK’ Hall said to her “Today was a good day, and a couple of these photos have the potential to go viral.” She didn’t really think much of it, so I just smiled and went on about her day.
Little did she know, those images will send her going viral on social media. This picture on theSUNK gained over 10,000 likes on their instagram page in one day. And garnered her almost 16,000 likes that day.
Her radiant dark skin did the trick for her just as it did with Kim Nyakim and Duckie Official. However it seems society took it’s eyes off her, but we decided to recap one year later and she is strutting all the major runways and magazines across the world. See her work below.
It’s interesting how one’s life can be turned around 360 degrees by just one picture.
