In the last quarter of 2020, we would all be introduced to a new style by two men who are worlds apart, one who is a renowned fashion lover and runs a successful boutique firm in Accra – Ghana by the name Richard Brown but known famously as OSEBO nothing is known about him aside for the fact that he is the baby daddy of Ghana’s top broadcaster Nana Aba Anamoah and the other is a famous musician Harry Edward Styles, known by his stage name Harry Styles is an English singer, songwriter, and actor. His musical career began in 2010 as a solo contestant on the British music competition series The X Factor.

Now there is something that connects these two men who ply their trades from two different continents and have probably never met each other is their choice of style which isn’t known to be worn by men. Osebo has been on style rampage in the last 3 years or so but only started getting public attention in 2019 and into 2020 this was as a result of his style which he has subconsciously introduced into the Ghanaian fashion space, of course, he has gotten a lot of backlash for this choice he is chattering but it seems the more Ghanaians scream out the more Osebo goes all out with his style, now one would ask what style is he wearing that has caused a public outcry, even his ex-wife came out to give to the fashionista a stern warning in case you missed it Click Here. The style which is called a Kilt is a type of knee-length non-bifurcated skirt with pleats at the back, originating in the traditional dress of Gaelic men and boys in the Scottish Highlands. It is first recorded in the 16th century as the great kilt, a full-length garment whose upper half could be worn as a cloak. The small kilt or modern kilt emerged in the 18th century and is essentially the bottom half of the great kilt. Since the 19th century, it has become associated with the wider culture of Scotland, and more broadly with Gaelic or Celtic heritage. It is most often made of woollen cloth in a tartan pattern.

Although the kilt is most often worn on formal occasions and at Highland games and other sports events, it has also been adapted as an item of informal male clothing, returning to its roots as an everyday garment. Particularly in North America, kilts are now made for casual wear in a variety of materials. Alternative fastenings may be used and pockets inserted to avoid the need for a sporran. Kilts have also been adopted as female wear for some sports. So in short Osebo is actually wearing an outfit which is primarily meant for men just that it isn’t accepted under the jurisdiction we find ourselves accepted but we all woke up to the newfound style British singer Harry Style has been churning out lately and it isn’t anywhere manly but you find a cross-section who go hard at Osebo for wearing kilts praising Harry’s new style and I get worried why this though if we do not understand what someone is wearing why don’t we just find out or better still watch not that I am here supporting the style choice of Osebo my main concern is we praise Harry for being adventurous and uniquely so when he wears complete women’s outfits and praised by Vogue and the likes.

Let’s understand that style is an individual expression of what one feels on the inside except when they appear naked walking the street, these two men have found what keeps them afloat I think we should accord them that respect and if you feel irked by any of their styles looking away would be the best option. There isn’t anything like being manly when it comes to style and representation the love we throw helplessly at Harry lets do same for Osebo and if you don’t feel like it just look away now that’s not too much to ask, is it.
