I’m not a fan of using the unusual models to send a message on the runway. I understand it’s an attempt to capture the attention of those into fashion but it never really does. Never the less, the message is still necessary.
Dear Diary organised a fashion show to raise funds for physically challenged people at Fort Jesus in Mombasa on Friday night. All participating models were people living with disabilities.
The founder, Nafisa Khanbhai, who also has a disability, noted that all the proceeds from the event would be channeled towards a children with disability home in Kanamai in Mtwapa, Kilifi county, which has 140 members.
The event was attended by hundreds of people, including Mombasa county gender and sports executive Mohamed Abbas and director of gender and youth department Esther Ingolo.
We commend and congratulate Nafisa Khanbhai for putting on such a grand and meaningful ceremony.
