Tongoro is a Senegalese fashion giant that has made waves recently after they released their latest collection called MADE VOL II in virtual reality.
In collaboration with 3D creators, BALM LABS, the fashion house has launched all pieces from the MADE Vol II collection which includes maxi and midi dresses, jumpsuits, sets featuring abstract and animal prints with complex cutouts.
Tongoro’s latest ensemble is targeted at empowering local artisans and serving as an influence on the future of the continent’s manufacturing industry.
Sarah Diouf, founder of Tongoro disclosed in a statement as follows: “For this installment, I wanted to introduce a subject that I am passionate about, the “Made in Africa” label.
If you have been following our brand for a while, you know that producing in Africa is something we are proud of. Production on the continent is a great way to support and promote local artisans. People often ask me how I think the work I’m doing with Tongoro impacts my immediate environment? When I started this brand, the goal was to highlight local craftsmanship.
To me, the goals lie in the hands of the artisans, but we have yet to recognize the values or properly brand them. Increasing the number of brands that push for local production and training will improve our ability to promote the made in Africa label worldwide because of its excellence.”
