Ghana Culture & Art Despite all of us easily being amazed by body painting, one can say it is an art form that is fairly ignored in Ghana. Despite many body painters being able to make a career out of their work from Carnivals to music videos, to ceremonies, and more. The men and women behind the work usually go unrecognized, especially here in Ghana. However, one body painter is taking his talents to social media and not just putting the usual jaw-dropping creative body painting work online, but doing so with his signature work in different forms. A young visual artist by the name of Oscar Korbla Mawuli Awuku Also known by the brand name Yonga arts, is a Ghanaian visual artist in digital painting, canvas paintings, sculpture, and body arts. The young talent hails from Ghana’s Volta Region and is Voltarian by tribe but was born in the capital city of Accra Ghana. This inspired him greatly to depict the strength and empowerment of women and also their ability to procreate and pass on generations of knowledge to their children both physically and psychologically.
