Yesterday, the launch of Glitz Africa Fashion Week 2013 took place. A large number of the Ghanaian press were present at the launch night as well as models, designers and a few celebrity guests. Glitz Africa Fashion Week is setting it’s records for this year, featuring 50 designers, 28 from Ghana, and the rest from other African countries and abroad.
The event will take place between the 6-10th of November, with a cocktail press launch on the 5th of November. Behold to our readers, this might be the first ever fashion Week in Ghana, or in Africa for that matter, outside of South Africa. By this, it would be the first fashion week that occupies 5 days. Where as most fashion weeks in Africa extend to 2 or 3 days at most.
A handful of known Ghanaian designers set to be at this year’s Glitz Africa Fashion Week 2013 are Christie Brown, Sa4a, Mina Evans, Joyce Abibio, Aya Morrision, Elikem Kumordzie, Pistis and more.
Last year Glitz Africa Fashion Week 2013 made its debut launch, congregating a whooping 40 designers in Ghana. The event received nothing but tremendous compliments with the exception of the attendance on the first day. After the word got out in 2012, the following days were packed with people rushing to see what it was all about.
Preceding the international press that followed the event hundreds of people are flying in from neighboring African countries to witness the following to last year’s event. Look forward to a blissful fashion week set to take place here in Ghana.
